The Lakshminarayana Global Music Festival was established in 1992 by Dr. L. Subramaniam and Viji Subramaniam, in the memory of his late father and Guru Professor V. Lakshminarayana. Since its inception, the LGMF has presented some of the greatest artists from around the world including Yehudi Menuhin, MS Subbulakshmi, Ustad Bismillah Khan, Al Jarreau, Steven Seagal, Stanley Clarke, George Duke and Jean Luc Ponty.

It is the only festival which has been able to present talent from around the world and provide a platform for all different styles of music and has presented Karnatic, Hindustani, Jazz, Rock, Western Classical, Orchestral, Indian Folk, Ghazals, Bollywood, and different Classical and Folk styles from five different continents.

The Lakshminaryana Global Music Festival has released five audio CDs and two DVDs from live performances and episodes of the festival have been aired on two Indian television channels with viewership in over seventy countries.

Till date, the festival has been held in forty-nine cities across twenty countries. The Lakshminarayana Global Music Festival has received tremendous support from the press and public and has hosted audiences of upto 200,000 people at a single event.
